Why use a PTFE/PFA-lined electric ball valve?

In aggressive chemical service, lining selection is driven by the actual medium, concentration, temperature and pressure. PTFE and PFA provide a fluoropolymer barrier between the process fluid and the metal valve body.

The FLE-Q-F combines a lined ball valve with electric quarter-turn actuation for remote isolation and selected modulating duties. It is suited to applications where chemical resistance, dependable shutoff and automation are required in the same valve assembly.

Frequently asked questions

PTFE/PFA-lined electric ball valve FAQs

Answers to common questions about lining selection, corrosive media, electric actuator control and project specification.

What is a PTFE/PFA-lined electric actuated ball valve?
It is a quarter-turn ball valve with PTFE or PFA lining on the process-contact surfaces and an electric actuator for automated operation. The lining isolates corrosive media from the metal valve body, while the actuator provides remote open-close or selected modulating control.
What is the difference between PTFE and PFA lining?
Both are fluoropolymers with broad chemical resistance. PTFE is widely used for corrosive service, while PFA is often considered where higher temperature capability, lower permeability or demanding process conditions are important. Final selection depends on the exact medium, concentration, temperature and pressure.
Can the valve be used for wastewater treatment and chemical dosing?
Yes, lined electric ball valves are commonly evaluated for corrosive wastewater, neutralization and chemical dosing lines. The lining and actuator configuration should be selected according to the treatment chemicals, concentration, temperature, pressure and cycle frequency.
Is the FLE-Q-F suitable for pesticide or agrochemical production?
It can be evaluated for pesticide and agrochemical processes involving corrosive raw materials, intermediates, acids, alkalis or solvents. Confirm compatibility for the exact formulation and process conditions before final selection.
Can this lined electric ball valve handle sulfuric or hydrochloric acid?
PTFE/PFA-lined valves are commonly evaluated for strong acid service, including sulfuric and hydrochloric acid applications. Suitability must be checked against concentration, temperature, pressure, phase and operating cycle.
Which electric actuator control options are available?
Depending on the selected actuator model, configurations can include on/off control, regulating or intelligent control, position feedback, manual override, selected fail-open / fail-closed functions and multiple AC or DC power supplies.
What information is needed to select the correct valve?
Provide the process medium and concentration, operating and design temperature, pressure, valve size, flange standard, required body and lining material, actuator voltage, control signal, fail position and any IP or explosion-proof requirement.
