Motor-Operated Valves

Motor-Operated Valves for Reliable On/Off and Modulating Control

We supply motor-operated valves designed for water treatment, power plants, oil & gas, chemical processing, HVAC, and industrial automation systems.

Valve Automation Basics

What Are Motor-Operated Valves?

Motor-operated valves are valves equipped with an electric motor actuator that automatically opens, closes, or regulates the flow of liquids, gases, or steam in a pipeline system.

Compared with manually operated valves, motor-operated valves allow remote control, automated operation, and more consistent flow management. They are widely used in water treatment, power plants, oil & gas, chemical processing, HVAC systems, and industrial automation projects.

  • Suitable for on/off or modulating flow control
  • Available for ball, butterfly, gate, globe, and control valves
  • Supports different voltage, signal, and actuator options
  • Helps reduce manual operation and improve system efficiency

Working Principle

How Do Motor-Operated Valves Work?

Motor-operated valves work by using an electric actuator to convert electrical energy into mechanical motion, allowing the valve to open, close, or regulate flow automatically.

01

Signal Input

The control system sends an electrical signal to the actuator. Depending on the application, the signal can be simple open/close control or a modulating signal such as 4–20mA or 0–10V.

02

Actuator Motor Starts

After receiving the signal, the electric actuator motor begins to rotate. The motor drives a gear mechanism that increases torque and controls the movement speed of the valve stem or shaft.

03

Valve Stem or Shaft Moves

The actuator transfers torque to the valve stem or shaft. For rotary valves such as ball valves and butterfly valves, the shaft turns 90 degrees. For linear valves such as gate or globe valves, the stem moves up and down.

04

Flow Is Controlled

As the valve disc, ball, gate, or plug changes position, the flow path is opened, closed, or partially adjusted. This allows the system to control liquid, gas, or steam flow without manual operation.

The Role of the Electric Actuator

The electric actuator is the key component of a motor-operated valve. It provides the torque required to move the valve and controls the valve position according to signals from the control system.

  • On/off actuator: fully opens or closes the valve for isolation control.
  • Modulating actuator: adjusts the valve position for precise flow regulation.
  • Limit switches: stop the motor when the valve reaches the open or closed position.
  • Position feedback: sends valve position information back to the control system.
  • Manual override: allows hand operation during power failure or maintenance.
